I did three evenings at the City Lit with Lucinda Oestricher, which did get me started a bit – working out of my sketchbooks. I had seen the John Piper at the Towner a couple of weeks before: I’ve always been taken by his collages, especially of around Newhaven and Seaford, which is my ‘home seaside’. I had a sketch of Seaford Head, so here is what I did. It was fun to do, and I think I shall do more collage – it is a good way of breaking out of the line work I’ve been doing so much of. I also like cutting things out – cutting the fabric pieces is my favourite part of quilt making.
